CPAP/BIPAP Mask

CPAP/BIPAP Mask

A CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) or BIPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure) mask is a medical device used to treat sleep apnea and other respiratory disorders. The mask is worn over the nose and/or mouth during sleep to deliver a continuous stream of pressurized air to keep the airway open and improve breathing. There are different types of CPAP/BIPAP masks, including:

  1. Nasal Mask: This mask covers the nose and is the most common type of CPAP/BIPAP mask. It is a good option for people who breathe through their nose while sleeping.
  2. Full Face Mask: This mask covers both the nose and mouth, and is a good option for people who breathe through their mouth while sleeping, or who have nasal congestion or other issues that make breathing through the nose difficult.
  3. Nasal Pillow Mask: This mask features small, soft pillows that fit inside the nostrils and are held in place by a headgear. It is a good option for people who prefer a lightweight and minimal mask that does not cover the entire face.
  4. Oral Mask: This mask covers only the mouth and is a good option for people who cannot tolerate a nasal mask or have a deviated septum or other nasal obstruction.
  5. Hybrid Mask: This mask combines elements of both the nasal and oral masks, and is a good option for people who breathe through both their nose and mouth while sleeping.

The mask should fit snugly and comfortably to ensure that the air pressure is delivered effectively and that the patient can tolerate wearing the mask for the duration of their sleep. It is important to work with a healthcare professional to determine the right type and size of CPAP/BIPAP mask for individual needs.
